Montana Sky---Ashley Williams, Charlotte Ross & John Corbett

Jack Mercy was one of the wealthiest ranchers in Montana. And his funeral is waiting for his other two daughters to arrive so the preacher can begin. His daughter Willa Mercy (Ashley Williams) is the only daughter who has lived with her father and worked on the ranch. And, today is the first time all three half-sisters are meeting. His attorney, the sheriff, neighbors and employees of the ranch are standing in the graveyard; when the first daughter arrived.

Her name is Lilly Mercy (Laura Mennell) and she acts timid; as she’s escorted to the family graveyard by Adam Wolfchild ( Nathaniel Arcand) who is Willa’s half-brother. He and Willa had the same mother, but different fathers. Lilly and Adam become close as the story unfolds. Lilly divorced her abusive husband after six months of marriage. However, he reappears and starts trouble for Lilly and Adam.

Tess Mercy (Charlotte Ross) the second sister is a writer, she arrived from California dragging her fast paced life with her. And will return to Hollywood where she has her agent, her life and friends as soon as the funeral is over. She is a city girl and wants nothing to do with nowhere Montana.

Bess (Diane Ladd) is the housekeeper who keeps all the sisters and everyone else on the straight path of good manners and to treat everyone with kindness.

Nate Torrence (Aaron Pearl) who is the Sheriff of Monroe County is a hunk, who falls for Tess. Watching their relationship develop is fascinating and funny.

After the funeral the attorney read the will---and it stated that each of Jack Mercy’s daughters will  inherit 1/3 of the 24 Million Plus Dollar ranch, however, all three daughters are to live a full year on the ranch to legally inherit their part or it will all be donated to the Nature Conservatory---and they will only receive a $100.00 each.
To makes matter worse the attorney tells Willa that Ben McKintock (John Corbett) and he---will be overseers for the one year. Willa is upset over this news, but Ben is happy because he has feeling for Willa. Will Willa will return those feeling? Their relationship is as rocky as the mountains that surrounds Mercy Ranch.

Nora Roberts wrote the book ‘Montana Sky’ and now we are fortunate to see a movie based on her book.

Enjoy and I hope you get your own copy of this very good movie. I still have mine that I watch; the story is great and the scenery is beautiful, in this western, romance, thriller and happy ending movie.

Unknown---Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger and January Jones

Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) a biochemist with his wife Elizabeth Harris (January Jones) traveled to Berlin for a conference to hear about the discovery in research by Professor Leo Bressler (Sebastian Koch). Prince Shada (Mido Hamada) from Arabia funded the research so he would be there as an honored guest.

When they arrive at the hotel Dr. Harris discovers he left his brief case at the airport, so he hops into another taxi and is on his way to retrieve it. While his wife checks on their reservations.

Suddenly, Dr. Harris’ taxi is in an accident and the taxi goes over the bridge into the icy water below. The taxi driver Gina (Diane Kruger) pulls the unconscious Martin Harris out of the car and swam with him to the shore.  Then the Taxi driver Gina hurried away before the police arrived. She had something to hide, evidently.

Martin Harris remained in a coma four days and woke up in the hospital on the fourth day. He could not remember what happened and without identification could not even prove he was Dr. Martin Harris.

He’s understandably confused, but remembers being married and dread fills his mind that his wife cannot find him. His memory loss caused him and his doctor much concern.

In a burst of energy he leaves the hospital without the doctor’s consent. He is off to find his wife and when he locates her, she denies knowing him. Confused but adamant that he is her husband and does not understand what is happening.

Then a man steps up with identification and says he is Dr. Martin Harris. (He’s not the only one confused now, and lost in a maze of denials and chaotic web of deceit, I am with him.)

Finally, the hotel puts him in a cab to take him back to the hospital, but he gets out and goes back to the hotel in time to see his wife having dinner with the other man who claims he is Dr. Martin Harris. They are very lovable to each other, which is more baffling.

He noticed a black van was following him, and ignores it as he stays on track to prove who he is. He goes to Professor Bressler and finds the imposture already there. When the fake Dr. Martin Harris shows his I.D. to prove he’s the real one, there is a photo of his wife sitting on the lap of the impersonator.

Then he fainted and wakes up in the hospital again with the same man who followed him once before. Who is now trying to kill him, but a nurse comes in the room and confronts him about being with her patient. Then the assassin breaks her neck, and goes into another room to hide another body. Martin manages to get her scissors and cut his restrains and gets away.

He Didn't Forget Everything or Maybe He Did Not Remember it Correctly

Why are these assassins after him? He cannot imagine anything since he has gaps in him memory still.

This movie is an action, mystery and thriller all rolled into a ball of entertainment that last for 113 minutes of the edge of your seat watching. If you missed this movie buy a DVD and entertain your friends with a movie night. They will thank you for it.

The A-Team--Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper & Sharlto Copley

Somewhere in Mexico Col. Hannibal Smith (Liam Neeson) is handcuffed to a chair by Mexican corrupted police officers who are taking turns hitting him.

They soon get tired of beating him, they take his money and leave, but they send in the Bulldogs to have a free meal of Hannibal. Hannibal unlocks the cuffs with the pin from his gun just in time to save himself from the dogs.

Then somewhere else in Mexico B.A. Baracus (Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson) is back to collect his girl---that is what he calls his black van that he loves---from a garage owner who is keeping it.

Suddenly, a fight breaks out and B.A. Baracus, who has huge arms with muscles rippling down to his fingertips, makes a short and fast exit with his van after knocking everyone out who fought with him.

He has tattoos on each hand. The left hand has the word ‘Play’ tattooed on it and the right one has the word ‘Fool’; he starts his fights with the play fist and ends up with the fool fist.

Still in Mexico is Lt. ‘Faceman ‘Face’ Peck ( Bradley Cooper) who is now being invaded by more crooked and mean Mexicans who are holding his girlfriend and has him trapped in five tries. They are beating him all the while Face is laughing and asking them---is that your best shot?

Face is trapped in the tires.

In the meantime Hannibal is trying to get to him by running across the desert to save Face, when he sees a van moving fast in the direction of his friend. Hannibal stops the van and hijacks it by shooting B.A. Baracus in the right arm. Hannibal tells him---I am not a thief but if I do not reach my friend in time he dies. Hannibal and B.A. discovered they were both special selected soldiers---Rangers---and proudly wear the same tattoo.

They arrive in time to save Face from being burned alive and the four of them the three men and Face’s girlfriend ride off in B.A.’s girl---the black van. They meet up with the fourth special selected soldier in the hospital who will sew-up the bullet wound on B.A.’s arm. His name is Captain H.M. Murdock (Sharlto Copley) he will be the fourth member of the A-Team.

Then the mission begins with the four American soldiers---The A-Team---who are in Iraq waiting to be sent on a mission by Hannibal’s good friend General Morrison.

They are sent to retrieve plates for printing 100 dollar bills, and, the thieves had already printed a billion dollars. And, this is where the action commences, with adventure fireworks, dealings, double dealings, double crossing, court martialed, prison and prison breaks.

Fasten your seatbelt all you action fans because this is a great action movie---I loved it from the beginning to the end. I would love to see this A-Team do an A-Team II.

Note: I love Bradley Cooper in this movie he is funny.

The Ultimate Life Starring Logan Bartholomew & Peter Fonda

Jason Stevens (Logan Bartholomew) life was turned upside down because he was doing what his Grandfather Red Stevens (Drew Waters) left in his will for him to do.

Care for his Ultimate Gift, but his covetous extended-family was taking him to court over the will, which required Jason to manager  Red Stevens' Billion Dollar Foundation.

The woman of his dreams Alexia (Ali Hillis) left on prolonged trip to Haiti and, he had been so busy with the foundation and court proceeding until she was gone before he knew it.

His life was collapsing around him so he goes to see Ted Hamilton (Bill Cobbs). And, Ted asked Jason did he have any idea where the twelve gifts came from his grandfather taught him? So Hamilton shows Jason his Grandfather Red’s journal that he started when he was 15 years old.

Jason starts reading and is transferred back when Red began his rag to riches journey. And, how he struggled to get there and who he met along the way and the lessons he learned in life.

As Red shared word by word, page by page until it seemed they were on the journey together. It was a lesson in life he learned from his Grandfather Red’s words that touch the abyss of his heart and soul.

Red wrote how he met and worked for Jacob Early (Peter Fonda) who was successful and that was what he wanted to be in life---successful. And, the lessons he learned from him and others along the way to him becoming a Billionaire. And, how some important moments in life disappeared while he worked to become successful; will be lost forever.

Michael Landon, Jr. is the director of this movie and he also directed Logan Bartholomew in the Love Comes Softly Series of movies. Logan was only 19 years old when he first played Willie LaHaye. These movies are from novels written by Janette Oke. And, I have done reviews on some movies from the Love Comes Softly Series with Katherine Heigl and Dale Midkriff--- they are all great movies.

So once again Michael Landon, Jr. has directed another great movie---as all the others movies he has directed are some of my favorites that I watch over and over.

So do yourself a favor and check out the Love Comes Softly Series---you will be happy you did.

Mail Order Bride Starring Cameron Bancroft and Daphne Zuniga

It was common when the Western Territory was young and people traveled from all over the world to a new land for a new beginning even for a mail order bride. Some came as families and some as single men looking for their future in a new land and a few single women were bold enough to come to a new territory.

And, after the land was settled with a home and livestock growing then it was time for a man to marry and start his family. The dream is ideal if there are enough women around to comply. And, if not, then the services of a mail order bride is presented to lonely men---so they begin their correspondence to find a woman who will travel to them and be happy with the meeker life style they had to offer.

To most it was a lot of hard work being a woman married to a rancher, farmer or one who did both. So many came and some did not stay---because it was wild and sometimes brutal in the new territories of the Wild West.

When Diana McQueen’s (Daphne Zuniga) friend died who was corresponding to become a mail order bride, her friend begged her to carry on her dream. Diana was ready for a new life and to get away from the evil over-barring boss Tom Rourke (Greg Evigan) and her life as a con-artist who gets money from men for Tom Rourke. It was sad she had to leave her brother behind---he was a priest and could not leave at the moment.

She packs up and leaves using her friends name in order to meet the Beau Canfield (Cameron Bancroft) who meets her at the stage with a bouquet of Lilies—her friend’s favorite flowers. Diana has landed in a place she feels from her expressions that were forgotten by all including God.

It was difficult for a city girl to be put into a new almost barren environment with no fancy shops, opera, nice restaurants, or beauty shops where a lady can have her hair washed and styled. At first glance she wondered what her friend was thinking.

Right away Beau was finding out differences from the woman who came---from the woman who had written him---about her likes and dislikes. He began to wonder and then his suspensions were validated when Diana picked the pocket of all who attended her engagement party.

Then Beau was mad and began to make Diana work hard on the farm for her keep to punish her, but he began to have feeling for her more and more each day as she gained his respect from her determination to show him---he could not beat her down---no sir.

This is a good movie and I ordered the DVD years ago and watch it often. I hope you enjoy it as much as I still do.

Captain Phillips Starring Tom Hanks

Millions were glued to their television in April 2009 after four Somali pirates hijacked an American Maersk Alabama Cargo ship. Captain Richard Phillips wrote a book about his and his crew's experience of being at the mercy of such savage men.

This true story has been made into a movie and will be in theatres October 11, 2013.  Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks) was a very brave man who protected his crew at all cost. The Somalis---Muse (Barkhad Abdi), Bilal (Barkhad Addirahman), Najee (Faysal Ahmed), Elmi (Mahet M.Ali).

This was the first time in 200 years anyone has hijacked a cargo ship. And this ship was on its way to Mombasa, Kenya. However, in April 2009 it was the 6th vessel in a 7 day time frame to be hijacked---the previous vessels had tens of millions extorted from them for the Somali pirate's pockets.

This cargo ship was carrying 17 Metric tons of cargo and had aboard 20 American crew members. I will always remember what a courageous and protective man Captain Phillips was that April 2009.

And I remember my favorite military unit the SEALS rescued Captain Phillips after killing three Somali pirates who held him captive for days.
The Somali pirates have not stopped hijacking vessels---in 2010 alone the number was 53 vessels and also 30 million dollars more in the pirate's pockets. And the only reason it has decreased any at all---is because vessels traveling through the area are--- well armed.

I cannot wait to see this movie---for two reasons---it is a true story and Tom Hanks is playing in it---he never plays in a movie that is not great.

Mark your calendar for the premiere of Captain Phillips.

Elysium 2154 Starring Matt Damon

On planet Earth 114 years from 2013---in the year 2154 there are still two categories of people---the haves and the have not’s.

In Elysium in 2154---lived the very wealthy in an immaculate space station---there is no crime, no poverty, no wars, no hunger and no disease. The residents of Elysium have medical machines available to give treatments to them when they are ill---then they are cured as it will eliminate any illness. There is nothing these wealthy people do without. These are the haves---so nothing has changed in this order.

On Earth in 2013 the ones who were the haves that ruled were called “The Elite Group” the very wealthy---the billionaires.

On Earth in 2154 survivors were the “Have Not’s” who lived on a dilapidated burnt out planet with too many people. Who were constantly fighting hunger, disease, and working in factories that were dangerous and controlled by robots---manned from the secure space station. The Earth residents lived a hopeless existence who desired to enter the space station for a better life of good food and medical care.

But Earth in 2154 had Max De Costa (Matt Damon) after an industrial accident in the factory where he worked---resulted in Max acquiring a cancer virus. He was given the sad news that he had only days to live---so he needed to get in the space station to obtain medical treatment to save his life. This meant getting past Elysium’s Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster) who operated and guarded Elysium with all her power including robots.

What happened to change Max De Costa into a fighting machine? Did a friend do this to save his life or did the enemy from the space station do this to make him a robotic slave to Elysium?

Max is the Earth’s last hope to save the people who desperately need food, medical care and a better life for them and their families.

Will the Earth people win against the manufactured High Tech Supreme space station Elysium? That President Patel ( Faran Tehir) rules with the highest security system.

We will have to wait until August 9, 2013 and it will be in theaters for all to see.

Dominic Purcell and Erin Karpluk in---Assault on Wall Street

What happens when Jeremy Stancroft  ( John Heard) tells his traders on Wall Street to dump 12 Billion Dollars of certificates that hard working Americans invested in? If you were not hit by Wall Street‘s greed in real life---then you are among the lucky few.

When one invests their hard earned money with a stock broker they trust and are not notified in time to move that investment to another stock---then you lose everything.  And this has happened in real time to many Americans.

However, this movie might make you feel a little better about someone taking on the “Big Boys of Wall Street.” It has plenty of action, drama, and pay back scenes.

The movie is about a hardworking New Yorker Jim Baxford (Dominic Purcell) who invested his savings in certificates for his family. When Wall Street decides to play God and dump the certificates without notice---then people like Jim are devastated.

Jim finds out when the banks calls his wife Rosie Baxford (Erin Karpluk) and he tells her everything will be fine. Now at this point Jim thinks it will be fine.

But when he talks to everyone involved he finds out his money is gone and he will not receive a penny of his investment. So he decides to get even with the ones who cooked the pot to get their big bonuses.

Now we all know it is not legal to start shooting people---but this is just a movie---fiction---not real.

So pop your Popcorn and drizzle it with chocolate and you will be ready to watch this review and the DVD of the movie Assault on Wall Street will be out August 13th, 2013.

Reserve your copy of ---Assault on Wall Street on DVD online and---save gas. I am because I try to be a fugal savvy shopper.

Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler---in The Ugly Truth

Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl) produced a T.V. morning news show in beautiful Sacramento, the capital city of California which is located at the union of the Sacramento River and American River.

Her show is about to be cancelled because of poor ratings. And the manager of the show Stuart (Nick Searey) has talked to Abby about it because he is very concerned if something does not improve fast---they might be pulled. He told Abby he had two daughters in college and he needed his job and now she needs to find a solution to their problem.

With this on her mind Abby ---she still agreed to keep a blind date with a guy who is 5’8’ much shorter than Abby.

She is a person who likes to control all the events in her life---including guys. She actually has a list of what she is looking for in a perfect man. Abby walks home after the blind date and he probably thought it was the worse blind date in history.

As she started to bed---her cat D’Artagnan stepped on the remote control and changed the channel to “The Ugly Truth Show” and Abby got the shock of her life.
Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler) a Sacramento cable talk show “Host” a channel where listeners call in to talk with him about the ugly truths of life.

Mike believed and stated on live T.V. is--- men are simple creatures and all they want is sex---so throw away all the books that talk about what men want. Because all they care about is how a woman looks---they just want sex.

Abby was so upset by what she heard that she called in to speak to Mike Chadway. She asked him if he believed in love and he replied that he believed in passion. Well it went downhill from there and he ended up saying she was probably a dog (which crudely put—she was ugly.)

Abby awaken to another day and found that her boss Stuart was smiling so big he could not contain himself---he told everyone he had hired Mike Chadway to do The Ugly Truth on their show.

What a great surprise for most and other knew how Abby felt about so they agreed with her. But after the first day on the show the rating sky-rocket and not only was Stuart happy but the owners wanted to
Fly in and have dinner with Mike who saved their show.

Now Abby had to work with Mike because of the rating; however,  she still had a poor attitude towards him. But it was slowly changes as he gave her advice about how to reel in the doctor who lived in her apartment unit. She finally listened to Mike and his instructions to her are working in her favor.

Abby told Mike that Colin was the perfect man and she and Colin started dating. He took her to nice places and she pretended to be someone she was not---that Mike implanted into her head---so she could get the man of her dreams.

But was he what Abby really wanted? Was Colin falling for the person Abby was not? Would Mike realize that he was falling for Abby and become jealous of Colin? What would Mike do about it?

Two handsome men and one beautiful woman equal a triangle where one person will lose. And that is
“The Ugly Truth.”

Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer in---The Family (2013)

Fred Blake/Giovanni Manzoni (Robert De Niro) a Mafia Boss who was an important part of the mob has informed to the CIA about the entire organization. Therefore---Fred and his wife Maggie (Michelle Pfeiffer) their son Warren (John D’Leo) and Daughter Belle (Dianna Agron) are relocated to Normandy, France and are using the last name of Blake in lieu of Manzoni.

Their CIA contact is Agent Stansfield (Tommy Lee Jones) who tries to keep them safe with strict instructions to them---that is was necessary to live---a quiet existence. But poor Agent Stansfield ends up relocating the Manzoni Family time and time again.

Why is this happening? Because they still solved all their issues the “Family” way---and that means in violent loud commotions---nothing is done by this family in a silent mode. With all their issues and trying to fit in to a society of a normal family life style---this is a funny movie.

And of course with their uncivilized behavior---the mob is hot on their trail---so this pushes Agent Stansfield to work constantly in trying to keep them safe. The family is relocated time and time again---staying just leaps ahead of the old cronies from the mob---who are sent as hit men to assassinate the Manzoni Family.

Agent Stansfield tries to drum it into their heads to please live quietly so the neighbors cannot gossip and spread the news where you are located. This is a sinisterly funny film and the acting is great---of course. With Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones and the beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer no one would expect---anything but the best.

I am marking my calendar for September 13th 2013 for the premiere of “The Family.” I hope you will too.

Paranoia---Liam Hemsworth, Harrison Ford and Amber Heard

Adam Cassidy (Liam Hemsworth) only wanted to make it in the Hi-Tech world so he could take care of his father Francis Cassidy (Richard Dreyfuss) has worked for 32 years as a security guard in New York City. But has nothing to show for it--- he became the average American struggling along on his little retirement.

Adam spent years refining his technical skills until he could make or copy anything technical to perfection. Now all he needed was a break and he was hoping it would be soon.

When Adam finally got his big chance he was thrilled, but the thrill soon became a chill and he found himself between two of the world most powerful and greedy tech billionaires in the dangerous business of corporate espionage.

Jack Goddard (Harrison Ford) and Nicholas Wyatt (Gary Oldman) whom are vicious and hostile toward each other and will stop at nothing to take the other one down.
It was Adams misfortune to be associate with Nicholas Wyatt first because he blackmailed him into becoming a spy stealing Hi-Tech trade secret in the Jack Goddard Corporation.

Of course there is a girl involved in Adams life now---one he cares about---Emma Jennings (Amber Heard). He will at all cost try to keep their relationship alive and ongoing.

Adam is trying to stay on good terms with Nicholas Wyatt who is blackmailing him by using his sick father. And his present employer Jack Goddard who he is stealing secrets from but is not aware of it yet.

Suddenly when Adam thinks nothing else bad could happen to him--- FBI Agent Billups (Josh Holloway) in charge of criminal investigation approached Adam to make a deal. Agent Billups told Adam that spying for Wyatt--- he could go to jail and stealing from Goddard could get him killed.

The action begins in this drama-thriller as both Goddard and Wyatt are after Adam now since he got even with them by using his Hi-Tech skills---what he did I do not know but I am hoping for a good ending. And I will wait for the movie to open in theaters in the USA on August 16th 2013.

Sylvester Sallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in---Escape Plan

Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone) is called into a high level meeting concerning the security of a prison; because he is the number one expect in the world on mechanical security of prisons.

To reach this level of knowledge he meticulously scrutinized each high security prison---obtaining massive information in endurance abilities He became the world’s designer of escape-proof prisons.

Little did Ray know he would find himself in a master escape-proof prison he designed after he is framed and imprisoned. He does not know who put him there---but he will find out and then it will be payback time.

In prison Ray makes a friend with Swan Rottmayer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) an inmate who is curious about why Ray is there in the first place. He tells Swan who he is and that someone wanted him there for reasons unknown. Ray got his proof of that when the warden Willard Hobbs (Jim Caviezel) told him he was paid a high price to keep him in prison.

This prison is a “Hell Hole” plus---what the inmates endure is inhumane and unbelievable. But the time will come when all of this will be dealt with---but the question is---will Ray and Swan still be alive to enjoy the end of it all.

In order to escape they will need a diversion, an inside man, outside person, and a computer expert. When in place the action will begin when the prison break-out begins.

Mark your calendar for October 18, 2013 for action, thrills because that is when the premiere in the USA. That will be a great day for Arnold and Sly because for about 30 years they have tried to make their schedules fit so they could make a movie together.

Faster---Dwayne Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton

Driver (Dwayne Johnson) was sent to prison for ten years for being involved with his brother in a bank heist. His brother (Matt Gerald) was the only one in Driver’s crude upbringing who really loved him. His step-father beat him and his mother (Annie Corley) never tried to intervene at any time. Only his brother tried to protect him and showed him what brotherly love was all about.

So when his brother’s driver for the bank job backed out---Driver offered to drive for his brother. Although Driver was never in the bank and never had a gun---he was still involved as the driver---making him an accessory.

Driver proved to be an excellent driver as he eluded the police cars that chased them all over the city. So the good news is they got away. The bad news is another gang decided to rob Driver’s brother’s gang of the bank money.

Five men were involved---but only four broke into the house and shot two of the gang then tied up driver and his brother. They demanded to know where the money was---but the brother would not tell them. One of the guys threatened to shoot the brother several times if they did not tell them where the money was hidden.

Driver was afraid for his brother’s life---so he told them where they hid the money. So everything was fine they found the money so Driver thought they would leave. His brother kept telling Driver everything would be alright.

After they found the money the big black guy with the tattoos on his hands and arms grabbed Driver’s brother head and cut his throat. Driver was screaming---as he watched his brother fall to the floor bleeding out before his eyes---and he could not do anything. One of the men had a camera and told Driver to smile---and that was when Driver looked into the camera and said---I will hunt you down and kill every one of you.

The 5th man a dirty cop (Billy Bob Thornton) who was the leader walked into the room and pulled his gun and shot Driver in the head. Driver was left for dead---but he had an Angel looking out for him that day. The surgeons saved his life---then implanted a metal plate in his head to replace what was blown away by the bullet. The bullet went through his head and out his cheek---leaving a nasty scar.

Driver finally got out of prison and he was on his way to avenge his brother’s death. He paid a guy with contacts to make a list of the four men and to find out where his girlfriend was so he could find them all.

Driver did not realize the man in charge was the 5th man---a dirty cop---who did not care who he hurt as long as he got his way.

Driver hunted down each and every one of them---and while this was happening the dirty cop hired a hit man to kill Driver. Driver was now the hunted by a professional killer (Oliver Jackson Cohen) as he hunted for revenge---the killer hunted Driver--- because he was paid to do so. The movie is filled with action, crime, drama and is a thriller to say the least.
