Romancing the Stone with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner

Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) is an extremely successful venturesome romance novelist---who lives in New York City---with her cat Romeo. Joan writes about action, adventure and romance just as she desired to experience it.

Full of thrills, titillating romantic adventures which changes within a heartbeat, into the abyss of excitement; which Joan lacked in her life. However, she could write about it and bring it to life in the pages of her books.

She is totally different from her character Angelina, who is beautiful, sexy; self-reliant and loves her hero Jessie. It was her imagination and with her typewriter she brought her hero Jessie to bigger than life in every novel. Joan---an excellent writer who lived through her novels---to give it more ambiance; enjoying every second until she typed her last word.

Excitement did not reign in her life as a writer's she had little time to socialize; because of her dedication to writing. Her small circle of friends included her agent Gloria (Holland Taylor); whom she had a meeting with in a local bar to deliver her just completed novel to her.

Gloria tried to get Joan interested in some of the men in the bar; but to no avail. Joan let her know they did not interest her. Gloria said: Why not because they are not Jessie? Joan replied: I know there is someone out there for me. It seemed to Joan they has this same conversation each time they met.

Joan worried about her sister Elaine (Mary Ellen Trainor) who is in Columbia where her husband was recently murdered. She probably thought about this as she opened the door to her apartment and found it burglarized, and before she could call the police to report it her sister Elaine called. She asked Joan if she received an envelope from her husband and did it contain a treasure map?

Ralph (Danny DeVito) and his brother Ira (Zack Norman) kidnapped Elaine and stood by her side as she telephoned her sister Joan. Joan verified she received the package and her sister asked her to bring it to Columbia.

So Joan is now on her way leaving her cat with her agent until she returned. Joan arrived in Columbia and luckily missed connecting with Ralph who was there to drive her to her sister Elaine. But Joan boards a bus to Cartagena or so she thinks. She got on the wrong bus because she accepted assurance from the same man who burglarized her apartment, and killed her super in New York City and is stalking her for the map.

The bus accidentally runs into a parked truck filled with birds. The other passengers leave to walk the bus route; while the wicked stalker talked Joan into waiting for the next bus. And, while she waited patiently sitting on her suitcase, the man who wanted the map pointed his gun at her.

This is the moment Jack Colton (Michael Douglas) a Soldier of Fortune showed up on the hilltop, and the stalker with a gun shot a hole in his water pouch. Then a gunfight breaks out as Jack chases the bad guy away sending his bullets flying over his head as he runs away.

Then Joan asked for Jack’s help to get to Cartagena and offered to pay him. Jack asked for $500.00; but settled for $350.00 in travelers check. And, then the adventure of Joan’s life is born; and so is our movie entertainment.

We can travel along with them through the jungles, mudslides and Crocodiles. We watched as their relationship developed on a closer level; and Joan starts to enjoy her adventure.

So, the once mousy Joan becomes a real beauty as her journey continued and she blossomed into a woman who likes having fun.

Joan’s true life adventure out shined her character Angelina’s in her novels, and Jack emulated
Jessie’s character so closely it is chilling.

I became a fan of Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner from this movie, and I am still one of their greatest fans, today. I hope you enjoyed my review and please return for more. Thanks.

The Losers (2010) Starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba & Zoe Saldana

It is never a smart move to double-cross an elite United States Special Forces Unit. These guys were sent to the Bolivian Jungle on a mission to find and eliminate the enemy.

After the target was marked the unit became aware there were a large group of children they had to save and since their contact in the USA would not call off the attack. The unit of five guys, Clay (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) who was the leader, Jensen ( Chris Evans), Roque (Idris Elba), Pooch (Columbus Short) and Cougar (Oscar Jaenada).

When the team realized the children would be killed if they did not go in and save them---and they had only eight (8) minutes to do before the missile hit its target.

The five men rush down to the jungle compound killing many of enemy before reaching the children. Finally they manage to rescue the children using an old school bus to save them.

After walking through the jungle with the group of children---they meet their contact helicopter and while helping the children on board they were informed---only enough room for the children. Clay said we will stay---so the helicopter rose in the air while the children waved bye to their heroes.

As the five men watched the helicopter rise over the trees to leave they heard a funny noise in the sky and looked up just in time to see a missile blow the helicopter up with all the children aboard.

The men ran to the wreckage knowing in their hearts what they would find---only burnt metal and fire still burning. Clays saw the little Teddy Bear one of the children was holding---burning on the ground.

As their eyes could not leave the burning twisted metal---Clay said that was supposed to be us---and they all knew at that moment they were dead to the USA that sent them to complete the mission and to their families.

Clay threw his dog tags into the burning wreck and each man followed suit. They were no longer Special Forces---now they were just men living in jungle looking for a way to revenge their own betrayal. And they knew the name of the name who did it---Max. But they did not know what he looked like.

Clay was approached by a beautiful woman with her own agenda named Aisha (Zoe Saldana) she told them she would get them home if they helped her to eliminate the heavily guarded Max. So the action begins after they reach Miami and plans are made.

This is a very good action movie with a good plot carried out with extra good actors as you will find out for yourselves.

Dwayne Johnson and Christopher Walken in---The Rundown (2003)

Our movie begins with Beck (The Rock—Dwayne Johnson) who is a hard-hitting wannabe chef trying to finish an assignment for his mobster boss Walker (William Lucking) as a bounty hunter.

Beck (The Rock) is sent to collect $50,000 from a football player who owes the money for a gambling debt. After the football player chose the wrong way to solve his issue. Beck retrieves his Super Bowl Ring for collateral until the debt is paid.

However, before Beck can get in his car another guy Walker sent as a backup man shoots him with paint packs and takes the ring.

When Beck arrives at the Walker home he is not in too good a mood to say the least. He tells Walker he wants his money and he wants out.

That he wants to start his restaurant, but Walker tells him--- if he will do one more job for him; he will have his restaurant.
Walker gives Beck an envelope with photos of a young man, and Walker tells Beck it is his son, Travis (Seann William Scott). That he wants him brought back to California. And he will find him in the Amazon.
This is where the fun begins, as Beck tracks down Travis Walker the fun begins. Beck has to deal with keeping Travis and outrunning Hatcher (Christopher Walken).

Mariana (Rosario Dawson) who is a bartender and leader of her people who are being used by Hatcher to dig in his mines and are paid very little for their work, and if they often beaten with whips if they disagree in any way.
This is a fun movie, with fast action, and a story with a heart and one of my favorite films, which is out on DVD. However, having The Rock in it did not hurt.
