The Prince with Bruce Willis, John Cusack & Jason Patric

The Prince

Omar Kaiser (Bruce Willis) lived with memories and the dream of one day revenging the murder of his wife.

She had been his world---the person he loved the most--- on this earth. And his worst enemy Paul aka The Prince (Jason Patric) was the one he blamed for her death.

Its been years since he had given up his career as a crime boss because he probably did not have the heart for it after he lost his wife.

But he had never given up the vision of avenging her death. He knew his precious wife would want him to forgive, but he couldn’t---only God forgives.

After keeping a low-profile for many years Paul surfaced. And when he did Omar knew immediately and was ready for his revenge.

Paul had retired from the life of crime as a Las Vegas crime boss. He lived quietly as a single parent who spent his time raising his daughter.

When Omar became aware Paul had a daughter---he knew how to get his revenge. Omar kidnapped his daughter Beth (Gia Mantegna) who knew nothing about her father past life of crime.

Omar had kidnapped an innocent girl---only a vengeful evil person could do this wicked deed.

Paul teamed up with his best friend Sam (John Cusack) then he returned to the world of crime to get support to rescue his daughter. He knew killing Omar should be his duty and his alone. The race began when two old rivals begin to fight with no holds barred---the smart ones cleared the way and ran for cover.

This movie “The Prince” will open on August 22, 2014 and all Bruce Willis fans will be waiting for a front row seat. I know I shall because I love all his action movies---he is the “King of Action.”

Force of Execution---Steven Seagal, Danny Trejo and Ving Rhames (2013)

Alexander Coates (Steven Seagal) is the king of crime as he sits on his throne over-seeing his territory given to him as his birthright. However, deep in his thoughts is a desire to get out of the business. Although he has worked hard for his criminal kingdom and all its monetary gains---he wants more, and maybe that more is a normal life with a family.

But it does not matter what he wishes for at the moment because there’s an issue to handle that takes its place. Alexander sends for Roman Hurst ( Bren Foster) his assassin apprentice who’s trained to function and complete assignments given to him. Roman is as skilled in martial arts as Alexander and proves it by his actions.

Alexander cares for Roman who might be the closest to a good friend he has, but he has trained everyone in employment---that each are responsible for their actions. If they do something wrong they accept their punishment. So, when he sends Roman into a prison to assassinate a prisoner he expects the job completed without complications.

Roman fights his way into the prison using all his skills and then some; and, finally finds the mark and kills him. What appeared as a simple assignment to Alexander is a case of mistaken identity for Roman. So, Alexander being the tough dogmatic king of his empire feels that Roman has embarrassed him. Therefore, Roman will suffer the consequences, and since he is the brave silent type he is ready to do so.

Alexander gives Roman over to gangsters for his punishment with a heavy heart maybe. Or--- is he a cruel demented criminal without one? Roman is hurt really bad as they smashed his hands so he cannot use a gun or his skills to defend himself. He hides to heal while he suffers silently in his dark mood. He stays in a room over a business owned and operated by Jimmy Peanuts (Danny Trejo) and, finally Jimmy helps his hands heal. Jimmy is as mean and dangerous as any criminal and will fight for the ones close to his heart.

When the Ice Man (Ving Rhames) hits town and starts to take over Alexander’s kingdom the fireworks begin, and mayhem and chaos become a normal day. The Ice Man is not afraid of Mr. Alexander as he calls him. However, it is never wise to underestimate a seasoned crime lord. And, this is when Alexander jumps into the mix and shows the Ice Man why he is king of his empire.

I cannot wait to get this DVD and it comes out December 17th 2013. Steven Seagal has been one of my favorite action actors for many years. And, like my chosen white wine---he just gets better and better.

Montana Sky---Ashley Williams, Charlotte Ross & John Corbett

Jack Mercy was one of the wealthiest ranchers in Montana. And his funeral is waiting for his other two daughters to arrive so the preacher can begin. His daughter Willa Mercy (Ashley Williams) is the only daughter who has lived with her father and worked on the ranch. And, today is the first time all three half-sisters are meeting. His attorney, the sheriff, neighbors and employees of the ranch are standing in the graveyard; when the first daughter arrived.

Her name is Lilly Mercy (Laura Mennell) and she acts timid; as she’s escorted to the family graveyard by Adam Wolfchild ( Nathaniel Arcand) who is Willa’s half-brother. He and Willa had the same mother, but different fathers. Lilly and Adam become close as the story unfolds. Lilly divorced her abusive husband after six months of marriage. However, he reappears and starts trouble for Lilly and Adam.

Tess Mercy (Charlotte Ross) the second sister is a writer, she arrived from California dragging her fast paced life with her. And will return to Hollywood where she has her agent, her life and friends as soon as the funeral is over. She is a city girl and wants nothing to do with nowhere Montana.

Bess (Diane Ladd) is the housekeeper who keeps all the sisters and everyone else on the straight path of good manners and to treat everyone with kindness.

Nate Torrence (Aaron Pearl) who is the Sheriff of Monroe County is a hunk, who falls for Tess. Watching their relationship develop is fascinating and funny.

After the funeral the attorney read the will---and it stated that each of Jack Mercy’s daughters will  inherit 1/3 of the 24 Million Plus Dollar ranch, however, all three daughters are to live a full year on the ranch to legally inherit their part or it will all be donated to the Nature Conservatory---and they will only receive a $100.00 each.
To makes matter worse the attorney tells Willa that Ben McKintock (John Corbett) and he---will be overseers for the one year. Willa is upset over this news, but Ben is happy because he has feeling for Willa. Will Willa will return those feeling? Their relationship is as rocky as the mountains that surrounds Mercy Ranch.

Nora Roberts wrote the book ‘Montana Sky’ and now we are fortunate to see a movie based on her book.

Enjoy and I hope you get your own copy of this very good movie. I still have mine that I watch; the story is great and the scenery is beautiful, in this western, romance, thriller and happy ending movie.

A Bullet to the Head Movie Starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Momoa and Christian Slater

James Bonomo (Sylvester Stallone) a New Orleans hitman’s partner was killed by Keegan (Jason Momoa) a skilled ex-mercenary. Keegan also killed a New York City Detective Taylor Kwon (Sung Kang)’s partner.

So it only made sense for them to team up and go after the bad guy. And Hell has not fury like James Bonomo when he is avenging the death of a good friend and partner. He has no rules to play by but his own and he reacts to the moment. However Detective Taylor Kwon does have rules to go by and executes them in the beginning and as close to the law as possible.

But James takes out the trash and solves problems and this is one issue that will be bloody and messy. No one will hide from this man who is a sphere of fury rolling over the top of his enemies like a 5 ton ball of fiery steel.

When he tells his daughter Lisa Bonomo (Sarah Shahi) about his partner being killed she reminded him he promised her he would get out of this business. With revenge on his mind he goes after his prey and does not care who tries to stop him---he will not be deterred.

But when Keegan takes Lisa---James’ daughter to use as bait to lure in James ---the fireworks begins--- and I am afraid the bad guy Keegan has bitten off more than he can handle. James would walk over hot coals to get to his daughter.

James does not trust anyone and he said that is how he stays in the game of life over death. One could almost feel sorry for the bad guy because I know he has met his match.

I cannot wait to get the DVD of this movie and I hope everyone enjoys Sly in this one---he just keeps on getting better and better.

State of Play

Intrigue, murder, cover-up makes this movie an attention keeper. It has one’s mind going around in a labyrinth. Just when you believe you know the answer---of who did what to whom---it blows up in your face.

The first scene---we see what appears to be a common thief as he burst from an alleyway nearly collided with an elderly couple. And slides over the front of a moving car; then he ran and hid in an alley behind large garbage cans. He waits awhile trying to catch his breath---then starts looking around to see if it is safe to leave his haven. It was a bad move because his pursuer shot him twice---and few second later a guy delivering Pizza on a bike rode by---and the killer shot him also.

The first guy shot was dead, but the second guy was in critical condition in a comma.  The Pizza man had a family he was trying to support with his low wage job, and now the family might have no one.

Next we see Cal McAffrey (Russell Crowe) who looks like a reject from the 60’s with his long hair and unshaven face; driving his car singing, dialing his cell phone, eating and spilling food all over the car and then he throws his trash on the back seat; which by now looks like a refuse can. When he arrived he greeted Det. Bell who is investigating the crime scene.

Cal McAffrey is a brilliant reporter for the Globe in Washington DC and is known by many of the law enforcement employees. Cal smells a story behind the story of what just happened, and he goes to work on solving it. He is unflappable but works for a tough Editor Cameron Lynne (Helen Mirren) whose bottom line is whatever is good for the paper. She is a fan of Cal’s but she does not give him sweet words of praise very often---because she knows it is sales that will keep her bread and butter.
Then a beautiful young redhead leaves her home to walk to the subway station as it is her mode of travel to her job. Upon arriving there she stands close to the edge waiting for the subway---one just knows something bad is going to happen.

The police called Congressmen Stephen Collins’ (Ben Affleck) office before he arrived . When he arrives his secretary tells him Soni Baker (Maria Thayer) who worked for the Congressman as his aide was killed in an accident at Metro this morning she was identified by her badge.

Congressman Collins is stunned---he stands with a look of disbelief. One of his staff members reminds him that it is time for the meeting this morning.

The meeting begins with Stephen Collins saying—Welcome to our hearing of Private Security Contractor Winkle into the Defense Answers and Practices—before we begin I have received some terrible news.

This is only the beginning of the story---now the News Media is speculating that Congressman Collins had an affair with his aide Soni Baker. The Domino effect begins as Cal McAffery

Congressmen Collins is a young tall dark and handsome man who is married. Will he remain the darling of his political party? Will his wife forgive him? Will he turn to his college room-mate Cal McAffrey for help? Is he innocent of being involved in the murders?

This is a great movie---and I am watching it again tonight, as one always misses something the first time. Enjoy the State of Play Movie.
