Kate Abbott's (Milla Jovoich) new job in the US
Embassy is to prevent terrorist attacks in the United States. This is the
reason she’s located in the United Kingdom for a better feed from around the
world; preventing terrorist reaching the United States.
She is good at her job and when she tried to block a
terrorist attack on New York the leaders of the group hired the world’s top
assassin; the Watchmaker (Pierce Brosnan) to kill her.
Now, Kate is on the run after proving her job skills by
zoning in on the target; and the leaders of the terrorist group is framing her
for criminal act. So, it seems everyone is trying to kill her.
Sam (Dylan McDermott) worked with Kate
and believes in her, but he is receiving pressure from his superiors to go
after her as well. Now, Kate only has her survivor skills to keep her safe, but
will they be enough for her to save herself.
She cannot trust anyone as it’s apparent they want her
dead. Why? Maybe Kate uncovered the heart of the terrorist operation in the
United Kingdom, or the US Embassy. It’s someone who’s trusted who is a cold-
blooded killer.
Covert Affairs: Watch Annie a CIA Action Agent--Click Link--http://hub.me/acRwk
James Reese
(Jonathan
Rhys Meyers) is an ambitious young aide to the United States Ambassador
Bennington (Richard Durden) in France. James floats in a calm sea of dullness serving
him. However, James would rather be on an assignment with the job of his passion;
as a low rank secret agent for the CIA.
James is
hoping to get an assignment in the CIA of a higher-level so he can prove his
worth to the agency. And, just when he is enjoying being with his
girlfriend---he gets a call from the CIA telling him to pick up his partner
Charlie Wax (John Travolta) because he is being detained by French Customers at the
airport. Because Charlie does not want to turn over his cans of his favored energy
drink to them.
This was
James’ first test of the assignment and after Charlie Wax called the French
Airport Security Agents everything in the book and then some, he stood defiant against them, Yes, James was shocked by Charlie's loud mouth with foul words being spit out at anyone or anything that got in
this big bad CIA agents’ way. James slapped a Diplomatic Mail sticker on the
bag of energy drinks. This solved the issue since the drinks were now protected
from Customs.
James’ CIA
handler advised him to do what Charlie Wax told him because he was on a very important
assignment. Which James found out later it involved terrorist that were
responsible for the death of the niece of Secretary of Defense.
Charlie Wax
takes James on an action adventure of his assignment and one might describe it
as a high-level CIA tutorial where killing and bombing is a big part of the lesson.
This will be the beginning of James’ hard lesson on the facts of life as a CIA
Operative. Will James make it to the end? Will Charlie Wax and James become friends and contacts to help each other with any future assignments they will be given?
Only after seeing
the entire movie will one be able to answer all the questions one might want answers to; so buckle up this will be a ride to remember.
It is snowing in Camp David and President Benjamin Asher (Aaron
Echhart), the First Lady (Ashley Judd doing a cameo) and their
son Connor (Finley Jacobsen) are all dressed in formal attire. Because they are ready to leave for a party at a
Billionaire’s home. The president’s secret service guards are ready to lead and
follow in their cars. The leader of President Asher’s guard is Mike Banning, he
and the president are very close as friends as well as employee and boss. And
the Asher’s son Connor loves Mike and follows him around like a shadow.
The snow and winds are strong as the five black SUV’s leave
Camp David. Connor asked to ride with Mike and two other secret service guards.
When the vehicles crossed over the bridge something large hit the lead SUV with
a force so great it spun out-of-control, then went over the bridge making the
other cars stop short and the President’s vehicle crashed the bridge railing was
hanging half-way off the bridge.
Mike tried to get the President and the First Lady out while
three other men were holding the back of the vehicle. The vehicle was so heavy
they did their best to hold it steady and upright. Mike worked fast in getting
the seatbelt cut off of the president, and then he would get the first lady’s---but
luck was not on their side---this winter blizzard night. The men holding the
vehicle screamed it is going as Mike pulled the president out---the car went
over the ledge with the first lady and the two men up front. Mike was
devastated he could not breathe or shout any orders---all he could do was look
at Connor. One could tell a part of him died that night, because he loved the
entire family and now one was gone and he blamed himself.
Eighteen months later Mike Banning has a desk job in the Treasury
Department and he is bored to death with it. He still has issues that haunts
his memory about that fatal night, and concerned about Connor and the
President. And, this morning after a brief conversation with his wife Leah (Radha
Mitchell) he apologized for not attending a July 4th Barbecue
with her.
Mike meets Secret Service Director Lynn Jacobs (Angela
Bassett) for coffee this morning on July 5th and some of his previous
secret service agents stopped by their table to shake hands. After they departed Mike
tells her---he wants back in and Director Lynn Jacobs said you know Mike everybody
know you did the right things, no one blames you---it is just seeing you every
day would remind the president of the tragedy. Connor misses his mom and he
misses his buddy.
During the morning at work one could tell that Mike was
thinking about Conner, the little boy he loved and taught him about every
tunnel and hiding place in the White House. Conner learned fast and Mike filled
his memory bank with every tidbit that could and might save his life one day.
His boring day continued until he heard the alarm call and
looked out the his window to see smoke and an aircraft flying low and shooting
at people in the streets and visitors to Washington DC. Then Mike Banning
jumped into action and to help wherever he could.
This movie is an action, thriller and will keep your eyes
glued to the screen. I just got my DVD from Amazon and I have watched it three
(3) times already---it is just that good. I cannot tell everything or about everyone
that was impressive in this review as it would go on forever.
Mike meets the enemy with Special Forces skills and a death-wish
determination for the ones who has invaded his White House and the people he
loves, the president and Connor. Olympus is the secret service code word for
the White House.
I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I did ---and still do,
because some of my favorite people are in it. To name a few: Morgan Freeman, Gerard Butler, Cole Hauser and Angela Bassett are some if my
favorites. And, I was very impressed with Melissa Leo who played the role of
Secretary of Defense Ruth McMillan.
Buy it and watch it when your heart desires---you will
always find something new each you watch it.
The day started
out very pleasant for John Cale (Channing Tatum) and his daughter
Emily (Joey King) because they were going to spend the day together.
John is a
Capitol policeman and he is taking his daughter on a tour of the White House, and while
he is there he will be interviewed for a job with the Secret Service. His
aspiration has been to work for the Secret Service and to protect President
James Sawyer.
When he tells
Emily about his intentions---she is so proud of her dad---but it does not
matter to her if he is a Capitol policeman or working for the Secret
Service---but it seems to matter to her dad so she hopes he gets the job.
John goes into
the interview room leaving Emily outside waiting for him. He is interviewed by
Secret Service Agent (Maggie Gylenhaal) and she asked him
the average questions any HR Clerk would ---however---the clerk would be more
professional with interviewing an applicant. John answered the question
honestly and from his heart---as this was his dream to work here.
The she said, “You
barely maintained a C average in college.” With that said---which was very
unprofessional to me---Special Agent Todd is in the room and he snickered. The
whole interview was anything but professional.
So John tells Emily,
“I think I have a shot at it---you know how it is---they have to talk amongst
themselves.” But he knew he would not get what he aspired for---protecting
President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx).
So John and Emily
continued their tour of the White House. Suddenly---their tour is interrupted by
a powerfully armed troop of terrorist led by Stenz (Jason Clarke) to take
over the White House.
John is caught in the middle of it all
with his daughter---he fears for her and the President Sawyer. He is the only one who can help---so he escapes
from the terrorist and starts to look for the President.
Then all the actions from Hell broke loose
as he fights his way out with the President. President Sawyer can fight
also---when he has to. It opens in theaters June 28, 2013 in the USA
I cannot wait for this action packed
thriller with Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx these are two of my favorite
actors. My popcorn is ready---now bring on the film.
Meg Ryan plays Alice Bowman who is world-traveled and shrewd. Her shrewd skills keep the determined Alice focus as she tried to help her husband, Peter Bowman who has been kidnapped by South American guerrillas. Russell Crow plays Terry Thornethe professional negotiator hired by Alice to bargain with the guerrillas. Soon Terry realized he is falling in love with Alice, all the while negotiating for her husband's release.
David Morse play Peter Bowman who is an engineer hired by a company that soon becomes uninsured and can no longer employ Terry Thorne to help secure Peter's release.
However, the guerrillas are asking for millions for his life. Peter is abused and treated inhumanly by his kidnappers, but he is a strong, gritty and intelligent man, who loves his wife very much. And he is trying to stay alive to see her again.
Pamela Reed played Janis Goodman, Peter's sister, who is petrified that she will never see her brother again. But she flies over from America to help her sister-in-law, Alice.
David Caruso plays Dino, Terry's friend who is skilled as a professional negotiator, also. He is aware of the chemistry happening between Alice and Terry, just by being around them.
This is a suspenseful and romantically charged movie, just writing about it makes me want to watch my DVD of Proof of Life again.
