This is a tue story that begins in Miami Florida with Daniel Lugo
(Mark Wahlberg) . Whose main goal in life was to become a body builder. And I would
say from seeing his body he has made it. But Daniel is like most people after one
aspiration is accomplished---then one becomes
bored and looks around for the next adventure.
He
worked with his friend Adrian Doorbal (Anthony Mackie) at Sun Gym in Miami
Florida--- for a while now; and he has become embittered with his living from
paycheck to paycheck. He does not want to be a body builder for the next 40
years. He wants something better--- a richer life.
So he comes
up with a plan---choosing the criminal way out. He seeks the help of an ex-con
just out of prison now a member of the gym. The ex-con’s name is Paul Doyle (Dwayne
Johnson)--- his body has seen a lot of weight building attention—WOW!
Another
person who frequents the gym is a wealthy, pampered business man Victor Kershaw
(Tony Shalhoub). So the plan is to abduct Victor---to torment and force him
to turn over---his assets.
Paul told
Daniel he was not a killer and Daniel advised him they would not kill him---and
somewhere in the back of Daniel’s mind---one can almost see his most famous
words to himself and others “No Pain and No Gain.” Anyone belonging to a health
club or gym has this phrase branded in their memory banks.
So the three
of them Daniel, Adrian and Paul accomplished their mission to get Victor to
turn over all his assets--- but what they did not count on---Victor survived the attempted
murder and helped the police all he could with details---- about the gang who robbed and tried to murder him. However, not even the awesome Miami Police could locate the “Sun Gym Gang.”
So Victor
hires his own man to get the criminals who left him scarred and broke. He
hired Det. Ed Di Bois(Ed Harris) to catch the criminals. And now the chase is on---because this man does not stop until his assignemnt is completed.
So the
action, fire power, pandemonium and the race is on---Det. Ed De Bois is after his prey---however the gang will fight back.
I cannot
wait to buy this DVD-the movie opens in theatres on April 26th
2013---watch your movie schedules and enjoy this action-packed adventure.
Everything
in Victor’s (Colin Farrel) life was going great. His job as an enforcer to a New
York City crime boss Alphonse Hoyt (Terrance Howard) paid well.
Victor is a
family man with a wife and a daughter and life was as normal as life can be in
his business---he could take care of his family and give them a better life than most families--- during these troubled times.
Until
Beatrice (Noomi Rapace) witnessed a murder and Victor was the one who did it. He
did not know someone was recording his criminal act. But Beatrice was and for
her own benefit.
She stalked
Victor until she found out what she needed to know. Then and only then did she
plan what she would do next. And that was to meet him in a public location
where she would be safe when she told him.
Beatrice met
Victor and told him she saw what he did and then showed him the video. Victor
wondered in those short second what did this woman want---experience told
him---it would not be good---when he found out.
She told him
that his boss Alphonse Hoyt was the one responsible for the scars on her face
and she wanted Victor to kill him---she was after revenge.
This is
where the action begins--- but does not ever seem to end---ever. It only gets worse as
Alfonse learns it is Victors who is trying to kill him. Then he kills the ones
Victor loved the most---his family.
Then the Gates of
Hell opened with flames and smoke---- revenge rode a horse of fire leading the Devil's posse--- as Victor now is after his own retaliation---this city has
never seen the likes of what this man will do for payback. Will Alphonse pay with his life? Will Victor be killed before he get revenge for his family?
What will Beatrice be doing when all the rages of Hell happened? Will the movie end with our cheers? We will have to wait and see when it comes out in March 8, 2013.
He wanted to make a difference for a better world so he was
trained to be the best enforcer, with martial arts, warlike fierce fighter of all
time, aggressive and lethal to the enemy. One who never loses and rarely trusts
anyone with valuable information that protects him and his unit.
The man described above could only fit the description of
one man called “Roadblock” (Dwayne Johnson) and he has the
finest unit in the world of trained fighters.
The other good guys in the unit are Captain Duke Hauser (Channing
Tatum), Snake Eyes (Ray Park), Lady Jaye (Adrianne
Palicki) and of course G.I. Joe himself General Joseph Colton (Bruce
Willis).
This unit works for the President of the United States of
America (Jonathan Pryce) who is a good and trustworthy man. And
Roadblock trusted the President---until he didn’t and he suspects something is
wrong at the White House and it is.
The evil Zartan (Arnold Vosloo) is impersonating the
President who is now his prisoner. And his evil followers Storm Shadow(Byung-hun
Lee) and Firefly (Ray Stevenson) and all these men are
serving under the wicked Cobra Commander (Faran Thir).
The Cobra Commander is the deadly enemy of Roadblock and his
unit. Zartan framed all G.I. Joe Special Ops. And acting as the President---Zartan
eliminates all most all of the G.I. Joe Unit.
When bad comes to worse Roadblock knows he can trust only
one man and that is G.I. Joe. So, he sends for him and the fight begins good over
evil and we know the action will bounce off the screen into our world of
adventure.
A place where we can visit our favorite actor and actress as
they flash across the screen to bring entertainment into our world and joy to
all the fans---young and old.
James Bonomo (Sylvester Stallone) a New Orleans hitman’s
partner was killed by Keegan (Jason
Momoa) a skilled ex-mercenary. Keegan also killed a New York City Detective
Taylor Kwon (Sung Kang)’s partner.
So it only made sense for them to team up and go after the
bad guy. And Hell has not fury like James Bonomo when he is avenging the death
of a good friend and partner. He has no rules to play by but his own and he
reacts to the moment. However Detective Taylor Kwon does have rules to go by
and executes them in the beginning and as close to the law as possible.
But James takes out the trash and solves problems and this
is one issue that will be bloody and messy. No one will hide from this man who
is a sphere of fury rolling over the top of his enemies like a 5 ton ball of fiery
steel.
When he tells his daughter Lisa Bonomo (Sarah Shahi) about
his partner being killed she reminded him he promised her he would get out of
this business. With revenge on his mind he goes after his prey and does not
care who tries to stop him---he will not be deterred.
But when Keegan takes Lisa---James’ daughter to use as bait
to lure in James ---the fireworks begins--- and I am afraid the bad guy Keegan
has bitten off more than he can handle. James would walk over hot coals to get
to his daughter.
James does not trust anyone and he said that is how he stays
in the game of life over death. One could almost feel sorry for the bad guy
because I know he has met his match.
I cannot wait to get the DVD of this movie and I hope
everyone enjoys Sly in this one---he just keeps on getting better and better.
This is a magnificent movie---it has history, action,
romance and a fantastic love story. But let’s start at the beginning of our
story in 1923 in the beautiful state of Tennessee.
Rafe McCawley (Ben
Affleck) and his best friend Danny Walker (Josh Hartnett) are young
boys playing in an old stripped airplane. Probably an old discarded crop duster
left in an old shed a perfect gift for little boys to let their imagination
soar among the clouds with their heroes.
The boys were best friends living near each other. Rafe
always protected Danny because he was younger ---like any older brother would
do for their younger brother. All they dreamed about was flying together one
day.
In 1940 Adolph Halter draws all of Europe into war and even
though France has fallen to Hilter America still refuses to join the ranks of
war.
n Long Island January 1941 Rafe and Danny are officially
pilots after two years of training and now they know how to handle an airplane
for real. So much so they get in trouble doing maneuvers with their airplanes
showing how good they are in the sky.
Their last stunt got them both called into Lt. Col. James
Doolittle’s (Alex Baldwin) office. First called into his office for a
reprimand was Danny and he listened a while and then told the Lt. Col. That he
was only trying to inspire the men like he the Lt. Col. Inspired him.
So, this took the wind out of the Lt. Col. Sails for a
moment and the Lt. Col. Doolittle said that is BS McCawley, but very,
very good BS. He said
McCawley you remind me of myself 15 years ago.
Lt. Col. Doolittle told McCawley the British have accepted
you into the Eagle Squadron and you will be on your way to England if you want
to go.
What would you go Major?
I would go even though we will probably be in war soon
because of Hitler and I will need you here with me.
Yes Sir---I am on my way.
Then Rafe tells his best friend Danny about his assignment
and he is upset.
Danny said--- Guess what it is not combat training over
there---it is war. There are no winners the losers die and the ones who come
home are wrecks like my dad.
Rafe said--- I will be 25 years old---I will be an old man
and they will want me to be a flight instructor, and I don’t want to do loops I
want to be a combat fighter.
A group of nurses are on a train going to their assignment---Nurse
Lt. Evelyn Johnson (KateBreckinsale), Nurse Barbara (Catherine Kellner), nurse
Betty ( Jaime King), Nurse Sandra (JenniferGarner) and Nurse Lt. Evelyn
Johnson is asked to tell a story about her experience of four weeks ago.
After Rafe leaves the office of the Lt. Col. Doolittle a bus
is waiting to take all the pilots to be examined and inoculated. Evelyn tells
about meeting Rafe as she gave him is eye examination.
Rafe was afraid that he would fail because he had trouble
reading letters. And he explained this all to Lt. Evelyn Johnson---and since
she knew how important flying was because her father was a pilot she passed
him.
And so the love story begins and I will stop here as not to
spoil the movie for you when you see it. It is one of my favorite Ben Affleck Movies. Ben’s wife Jennifer Garner was in this film also as Nurse Sandra. She
is easily recognized by her deep dimples---a beautiful lady. They were not
dating at this time---that came later.
Joe Linwood (Ted
DeBiase Jr.) who is a Maine Sniper was finally going home from Southeast Asia for
two weeks to spend a vacation with his beautiful wife Robin Linwood (Lara Cox). All Joe wanted was to stay home and enjoy his
hometown. Joe contacted Robin by Skype to let her know he was coming home for two weeks.
Robin told Joe he could be with her in Paradise as her super rich client
Darren Conner (Robert Coleby) is
opening a resort on an Island and she is in charge. What about Joe she asked it
will be five days of sun and beach---it will be wonderful?
Joe told her I was looking forward to getting back home to
Michigan and Robin told him she was sorry it was her job and she knew it was
bad timing but she needed him to come home. And Joe said anywhere you are--- is my
home.
So they are now on their way to the new resort and all Joe
can do is look at his beautiful wife and Robin is so happy Joe is with her.
Finally they landed on the Island and it is as beautiful as
Robin thought it would be and more---she is so happy to be there with Joe---her
handsome and much loved husband.
They are met by Cynthia (Kelly B. Jones) she and Robin have talked over the phone and Skype
a lot and this is their first meeting. Cynthia shows them around Paradise it is
so lovely and Joe points out a tower and says you have security. Cynthia said
yes we have 24 hour guard security tower---the top of the line. Cynthia showed
Robin where they were having the party tomorrow night for the Resort's Grand Opening.
Later and before Robin has to begin work she and Joe are on
the beach relaxing when Darren Conner walks up and says---it is so nice to see
someone having a good time. Robin said I was waiting for you to arrive. Darren
Conner this is my husband---Joe shook his hand and Darren said soldier right.
Robin said actually he is a Marine. Darren said right---then put his arm around
Robin to take her aside and tell her he is getting 24 calls an hour because
some rep. has a reporter trying to interview him and some peace order trying to
hit him with injunctions. Will you please do you job.
Robin says to Joe and you thought your job was hard---she
smiles and walks away to catch up with Darren Conner.
After her meeting they have a few hours they can enjoy
themselves so they wanted to go scuba diving and this is when they met Church (Michael Rucker) who has a business on the
Island. He and Joe talk for a bit and they loaded up the boat with their gear to
scuba dive and swim to the Island which is back of the resort.
That night all Hell broke out as they were attached and the
Resort was taken with many hostages---one of them was Robin. This is when being
married to a Marine really pays off. Action is the keyword here and saving
Robin is what Joe will do as he risks his life for his beautiful wife. I liked this movie because I love action and romance together in a great story of what can really
When John Triton (John Cena) a marine saved the
lives of other marines by ignoring a command to stand down and wait for
backup was wrong as far as the Marine’s rules. So the hero who saved
others was given an honorable
discharge---he had to leave what he
loved the most next to his beautiful wife Kate(Kelly Clarkson)---the marines.
After John returned home he was lost---andhurt at the
outcome of his career in the Marines---and he did not know what to do with
himself. He was so happy to be home with his wife---yet a gloomy halo of sadness
surrounded him. Kate recognized it and was trying to come up with something John
could do for excitement.
Kate suggested they go to the beach, but John said he had
seen enough sand in the Marine’s. So they packed up and start to the mountains.
Life was great they were so in love and enjoying being together.
Earlier a
team of diamond thieves robbed a jewelry store killing people had stopped to
get gas. The leader Rome (Robert Patrick) was driving a stolen Cadillac. The
gun-crazed killer on the team was Morgan (Anthony Ray
Parker). And while a deputy was talking to Rome about a sticker on his bumper
Morgan walks out of the station and shoot the deputy in the head.
Then all bedlam
started--- because one of the guys takes Kate as hostage while John is in the
store knocked out. They shot the other deputy as he tried to get away and then
they exploded everything up around them.
John makes
it out of the store alive and uses the deputy’s car to chase after them because
they took Kate and his vehicle. This is one
of the most action-packed movies I have seen in a long time---compete
pandemonium from the beginning to the end. There is also a surprise ending with
who turn out to in on the diamond heist.
The Firm is a show that centers on the McDeere Family after
they surface from the witness protection program after ten years to begin a new life in
the Washington Metro Area. Mitchell McDeere known as Mitch (Josh
Lucas) is a graduate of Harvard Law College. Mitch’s wife Abby McDeere
(Molly
Parker) and their daughter Claire McDeere (Natasha Calis) with his
brother Raymond known as Ray McDeere (Callum Keith Rennie) is the older
brother who served time in prison and is now working with Mitch as an
investigator for his law office.
Ray’s girlfriend Tammy Hemphill (Juliette Lewis) all four went
into the witness protection because they helped Mitch who was a whistle blower
for the FBI take down a dishonest Memphis Law Firm with ties to the Chicago mob
connections.
Claire was born while they were in the witness protection program---so
she is familiar with the reason they had to move so often--- to stay ahead of the mob
finding them.
And since the Chicago mob boss died in prison the McDeere
family is starting their life over---although they are still dealing with the
past and its little issue---they are looking brightly towards the future.
Abby is teaching elementary school again and her daughter is
in her classroom. Abby freedom is blissfully rewarding now as she can have the
career she loves.
Mitch has opened a new law office in a building which was a
tiny travel agency, and with him Ray and Tammy. Ray is his investigator for the
law practice and Tammy is his secretary and they are working under a strict
budget to begin the business. But they are all positive and plan a bright
future as the ten years in witness protection.
The first episode beings with Mitch being chased by three
men across a park and Mitch got away by running through a huge water fountain
and then jumping into the back of a truck.
When he get to a phone he calls Abby telling her she needs
to get out of there and she asked why---and Mitch said for her to follow the
emergency plan. Mitch tells her he will be there soon---he hangs up.
Mitch met with a man in a hotel room---thinking he had lost
the tail of the three men chasing him and they would be safe. But before they
can really begin to talk someone is banging on the door saying they are with
the hotel security. But Mitch and the man know it is not security because they
would have a key.
The small bits of the conversation consist of Mitch telling
the man a woman is dead and you know something about it. And the man
replied---I am a dead man if I talk, you do not know these people.
Mitch replied---I know people in the FBI they will protect
you.
The man said---no one can protect me---I am a dead man
already. Then he runs out on the balcony and dives off to the concrete below.
He commits suicide jumping to his death eight (8) stories.
Mitch cannot believe his eyes---but has to run out on the
balcony himself to escape the men who have now crashed through the locked door.
Mitch escapes just in time by sliding down two floors below and running out a
second floor window; jumps and landed onto a luggage cart below.
Then the scene takes us back to the McDeere home where they
are talking about what happened. This is a great action movie and I wished it
was going for a second season but it is not. So enjoy what we do have and it
will give us all something to ponder on what might happen after we see all 22
episodes of The Firm.
It is never a smart move to double-cross an elite United
States Special Forces Unit. These guys were sent to the Bolivian Jungle on a
mission to find and eliminate the enemy.
After the target was marked the unit became aware there were
a large group of children they had to save and since their contact in the USA
would not call off the attack. The unit of five guys, Clay (Jeffrey
Dean Morgan) who was the leader, Jensen ( Chris Evans), Roque (Idris
Elba), Pooch (Columbus Short) and Cougar (Oscar Jaenada).
When the team realized the children would be killed if they
did not go in and save them---and they had only eight (8) minutes to do before
the missile hit its target.
The five men rush down to the jungle compound killing many
of enemy before reaching the children. Finally they manage to rescue the children
using an old school bus to save them.
After walking through
the jungle with the group of children---they meet their contact helicopter and
while helping the children on board they were informed---only enough room for
the children. Clay said we will stay---so the helicopter rose in the air while
the children waved bye to their heroes.
As the five men watched the helicopter rise over the trees
to leave they heard a funny noise in the sky and looked up just in time to see
a missile blow the helicopter up with all the children aboard.
The men ran to the wreckage knowing in their hearts what
they would find---only burnt metal and fire still burning. Clays saw the little
Teddy Bear one of the children was holding---burning on the ground.
As their eyes could not leave the burning twisted metal---Clay said that was supposed to be us---and
they all knew at that moment they were dead to the USA that sent them to
complete the mission and to their families.
Clay threw his dog tags into the burning wreck and each man
followed suit. They were no longer Special Forces---now they were just men
living in jungle looking for a way to revenge their own betrayal. And they knew
the name of the name who did it---Max. But they did not know what he looked
like.
Clay was approached by a beautiful woman with her own agenda
named Aisha (Zoe Saldana) she told them she would get them home if they
helped her to eliminate the heavily guarded Max. So the action begins after
they reach Miami and plans are made.
This is a very good action movie with a good plot carried
out with extra good actors as you will find out for yourselves.
The Movie
starts as a love story with Sophia (Nastassja Kinski) and Michael
Luciano (Michael Hayden) as two young
lovers who had to say their goodbyes because Michael is going to the Harvard in the USA ---which will be a long ways
from Palermo, Italy.
Michael
hated to leave Sophia but he had to return home for his going away party to be
with his parents and three brothers.
Michael father is Don Roberto Luciano (Dennis Farina) and mother is
Graziella Luciano (Vanessa Redgraves).
Don Roberto
Luciano had a visitor that afternoon mob boss Pietro Carolla (Tony Lo Bianco) from the U.S. who
wanted permission to traffic drugs.
But Don
Luciano rejected his request. During the conversation Don Roberto Luciano
introduces his sons to Carolla. This was the wrong thing to do, because later
that night Michael goes to see Sophia to say goodbye with a kiss. Sophia was
wearing the heart locket Michael had given her that afternoon at the beach; she
was so proud of it.
When Michael
started walking home a car pulls up beside him---and it is Pietro Carolla who
offers Michael a ride home. But Michael never makes it home. He is beaten,
killed and left at the gate of his home, Pietro has his revenge.
In the meantime,
Sophia finds out she is pregnant so she goes to the convent to the sisters where she
works and lives there to have her baby boy. One day she decides to go to Don
Roberto Luciano; after finding out that Michael is dead---to tell them she had
Michael’s son and she needed money to help raise him, leaving the baby at the
convent to be taken care of until she returns that same day. Sophia puts the
locket around her son’s neck to keep him safe while she went to the Luciano’s
home.
Sophia is
turned away from the gate of the Luciano home and is almost thrown in the path
of a car driven by Constantino Luciano (Richard
JosephPaul). Constantino takes
Sophia into their home and his mother Graziella and he takes care of her until
she is on her feet once again. She called the convent and one of the sisters
told her that her baby was adopted by a wonderful family, and this news almost
killed her. Sophia never had the chance to tell them about Michael’s baby---so
they never knew about him.
A few years
later a wild little boy is taken in by the monks who stated his name was Luka
and was having a fit because one monk had taken a heart locket he always wore
around his neck. The monk in charge gave the locket back to Luka.
Constantino
and Sophia fall in love and later they have twin boys. This is a great movie
that was three hours long----and I could have watched another three hours it was
that good.
I hope
everyone will get this DVD because it is well worth owning and viewing whenever
---each time I watch it---I see something new.
This movie is packed with action, adventure, firepower,
fighting, it looks like a small war behind these guys wherever they go.
The leader of the team is Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) a rough exterior of a
man who takes no prisoners kind of guy, whose appearance is strong, fierce and
relentless when it comes to his enemies or any enemy who has sinned against
humane living; but one can tell he does have a kind heart under all the
hardness. The beautiful scenery in the movie adds to the viewer’s pleasure as
the guys travel overland and in their plane.
The movie begins with Barney Ross and his team Lee Christmas (Jason
Statham) who seems to be Barney’s right hand man---is equally just as
fierce with his expertise with a knife or sword. Yin Yang (Jet Li) probably knows all
the martial arts including judo, jiu jitsa, and aikide and is so fast he spins
like a top. Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lundgren) is a Swedish skilled genius who is
on a mission to get the job done and is the scariest looking of them all. Hale
Caesar (Terry Crews) is a walking tall wall of a muscular giant---this is one
man who is a team on his own. Toll Road ( Randy Couture) evens out the team with
his strength and professional quietness---looking at him---one can refer to the
saying, “Still Waters Run Deep” and the enemy should never hesitate when he is confronted
by him.
These are the main five who are from a disbanded old-school “Mercenaries”
that has formed a team of Expendables men living on the edge as they take high
risk missions for big money. And each one knows in advance they are expendable
and might at any time be killed, even though they have each other’s back.
Joined for a short time is Bill the Kid they call him (Liam
Hemsworth) who is skilled as a sniper---and he is one of the best long ranger
sniper known. He is a handsome young man that the guys are in awe of because of
his skills and youth. They have forgotten how it was to be that young
again---because they are reasoned older men with the skills of a small army,
rough, tough and rode hard.
In finishing up a mission they not only rescued the target but
found Trench (Arnold Schwarzenegger) tied to a chair by the enemy Japanese
Terrorist Group and they saved them both.
Then finally after a long mission they are flying home for a
long deserved rest---in Barney’s plane that he uses as his home---when Church (Bruce
Willis) calls him to remind him he took his 5 million dollars and now
he owned him a mission.
In this mission Maggie (Nan Yu) joins the Expendables---because Church
insisted she go with them because she has the skill needed to rescue an item--- he
needs from a wrecked plane.
This is where they met Vilian (Jean-Claude Van Damme)
the meanest inhumane psychotic man on the planet and the mayhem begins. Vilian
leads a band of Terrorist-for-Hire cutthroats.
This is a volatile movie and the screen
lights-up like the 4th of July fireworks all going at once
when Barney’s team and the Terrorist-for-Hire butt heads over 5 tons of
weapon-grade Plutonium.
Any action fan can get their thrill with this movie and I am one of them. I rate this movie---WOW!
The movie begins with five expert bank robbers that creates a
skillful team which includes GordonJennings (Idris Elba), John Rahway
(Paul
Walker), A.J. (Hayden Christensen), and Jake (Michael
Ealy), and Jess (Chris Brown) these men are very
professional in their attire and manner
They all lead the good life, any luxury that want is theirs,
women and more women. The team has just finished a bank job and has money to
invest in whatever venture their little robbing heart’s desire.
After each job they always started to plan another one---however one of their
former team members is released from prison--- known by the name of Ghost (Tip T.I. Harris). Ghost has his own agenda;
one is getting even with Jake because he feels he stole his girlfriend away
from him.
Ghost comes to them with a plan to rob two armored cars that
will be carrying 20 million. But Jake does not feel comfortable about this plan
because he feels he is being rushed. The team does not trust Ghost because
being careful is their second nature after all these years.
Even though this team of men proved very professional in
their area of expertise and never left any clues behind that would lead the law to
them---which is all well and good. But they did not count on a stubborn Los
Angeles Detective Jack Welles (Matt Dillon). His
job is very important to him and he is like a Bulldog with a bone---he never
gives up.
This is an action packed movie with great actors and
storylines.
Intrigue, murder, cover-up makes this movie an attention
keeper. It has one’s mind going around in a labyrinth. Just when you believe
you know the answer---of who did what to whom---it blows up in your face.
The first scene---we see what appears to be a common thief as
he burst from an alleyway nearly collided with an elderly couple. And
slides over the front of a moving car; then he ran and hid in an alley behind large garbage
cans. He waits awhile trying to catch his breath---then starts looking around
to see if it is safe to leave his haven. It was a bad move because his pursuer
shot him twice---and few second later a guy delivering Pizza on a bike rode
by---and the killer shot him also.
The first guy shot was dead, but the second guy was in critical
condition in a comma. The Pizza man had a family he was trying to support with his low wage
job, and now the family might have no one.
Next we see Cal McAffrey (Russell Crowe) who looks like a
reject from the 60’s with his long hair and unshaven face; driving his car singing,
dialing his cell phone, eating and spilling food all over the car and then he
throws his trash on the back seat; which by now looks like a refuse can. When
he arrived he greeted Det. Bell who is investigating the crime scene.
Cal McAffrey is a brilliant reporter for the Globe in
Washington DC and is known by many of the law enforcement employees. Cal smells
a story behind the story of what just happened, and he goes to work on solving
it. He is unflappable but works for a tough Editor Cameron Lynne (Helen Mirren)
whose bottom line is whatever is good for the paper. She is a fan of Cal’s but
she does not give him sweet words of praise very often---because she knows it
is sales that will keep her bread and butter.
Then a beautiful young redhead leaves her home to walk to
the subway station as it is her mode of travel to her job. Upon arriving there
she stands close to the edge waiting for the subway---one just knows something
bad is going to happen.
The police called Congressmen Stephen Collins’ (Ben Affleck)
office before he arrived . When he arrives his secretary tells him Soni Baker (Maria
Thayer) who worked for the Congressman as his aide was killed in an accident at Metro this morning she was identified by
her badge.
Congressman Collins is stunned---he stands with a look of
disbelief. One of his staff members reminds him that it is time for the meeting
this morning.
The meeting begins with Stephen Collins saying—Welcome to
our hearing of Private Security Contractor Winkle into the Defense Answers and
Practices—before we begin I have received some terrible news.
This is only the beginning of the story---now the News Media
is speculating that Congressman Collins had an affair with his aide Soni Baker.
The Domino effect begins as Cal McAffery
Congressmen Collins is a young tall dark and handsome man
who is married. Will he remain the darling of his political party? Will his
wife forgive him? Will he turn to his college room-mate Cal McAffrey for help?
Is he innocent of being involved in the murders?
This is a great movie---and I am watching it again tonight,
as one always misses something the first time. Enjoy the State of Play Movie.
Now what could make a Tommy Lee Jones movie even better?
Adding a group of University of Texas Cheerleaders because they witnessed a
homicide and saw the murderer; and of course and having Tommy Lee as Texas
Ranger (Lt.Roland Sharp) guard them. Lt. Ranger Sharp has been assigned to act
as an undercover coach assistant and live with the cheerleaders in a two
storied house along with two deputies.
Now since Lt. Ranger Sharp has a daughter is a little aware of how teenagers
act. Or is he? Will Ranger Sharp learn anything from the girls and will the
girls learn from him?
The beautiful Professor Polly McCarthy (Ann Archer) will impress
the hard nosed Ranger. Will a romance begin? If the five cheerleaders
